Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is attempting to have her state’s Supreme Court remove Governor Rod Blagojevich from office by declaring him unfit to serve:
Clearly, some in Illinois are growing impatient with Blagojevich’s obstinacy and won’t wait for the legislature to reconvene and impeach him.
No matter how it happens, I hope Blagojevich loses his office as soon as possible. He is no longer deserving of the power his office affords him, and we will all be better off without Rod Blagojevich in office.
UPDATE: Fox News in Chicago is reporting that incoming White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel did present Blagojevich with a list of preferred candidates to replace Obama, but there’s no evidence whatsoever that Emanuel had any role in the Governor’s pay-for-play scheme:
Fox’s source said that Emanuel gave the governor’s office a list of “candidates that would be acceptable to President-elect Barack Obama” but no “quid pro quo” or “dealmaking” is suspected.
