John McCain Can’t Remember How Many Houses He Owns (UPDATED)

He’s not one of us, that’s for sure:

I can remember how many houses I own–zero. I live in an apartment because I can’t afford a house.

I can tell you that someone who has so many houses and condos he can’t keep track of them doesn’t speak for me, especially on the economy.

No wonder McCain doesn’t think the economy is bad–he’s so wealthy it doesn’t affect him. Well, Senator McCain, it affects me and I’m going to vote for someone who is looking out for my family and trying to solve our economic problems.

In other words, I’m going to vote for Barack Obama.

UPDATE: The McCain campaign responds. Let’s parse:

“Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year,

$4 million that Barack Obama earned by working hard, like how most people earn their money–McCain, on the other hand, married a wealthy heiress to get his fortune.

just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii

Obama went to Hawaii to visit his grandmother–if she lived in Duluth or Gary or Cleavland, Obama would have gone there instead. I don’t know why the right likes to attack Obama’s grandmother for living in Hawaii, but I guess that’s their right if they want to go down that road.

and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon

Except, again, Obama bought a house with money he earned, like most Americans do. McCain’s houses were bought with his wife’s inherited fortune. And about the whole convicted felon thing–yeah, turns out that’s a lie.

Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula

Well, Obama talked about the price of arugula in Iowa–to a group of farmers–some of whom grow arugula. I don’t know why talking to American farmers about the economic hardships they’re facing is a bad thing; maybe it’s because farmers don’t make enough money to be worth the GOP’s time.

and thinks regular people “cling” to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans?

Clearly he does.

The reality is that Barack Obama’s plans to raise taxes

What they meant to say was “Barack Obama’s plan to raise taxes on the wealthy (like John McCain) and cut taxes for middle-class and working-class families (like the rest of you)”

and opposition to producing more energy here at home as gas prices skyrocket

That’s another lie–Barack Obama supports developing alternative energy technologies as well as opening up offshore drilling, the very definition of ‘producing more energy here at home.’

show he’s completely out of touch with the concerns of average Americans.”

The choice here is between the self-made man and the husband to the 100-million-dollar heiress; personally, I’m going to choose the man who’s known economic hardship and overcome it, not the man who has always lived in the lap of luxury.
